Start with the tattoo you have
We look at your existing tattoo during a cover-up consultation at the studio. Bring pictures of designs you like. Tell us what you want covered and whether you would consider a larger design. Also explain which elements you would like to keep or incorporate into a larger piece.
We need to see the tattoo to discuss your idea. A photo can give us an initial impression, but it does not replace an in-person conversation. Not every new design will work over every old tattoo.
What to bring to a cover-up consultation
If you message us before visiting, send a clear photo without a filter through WhatsApp. Show the whole tattoo and some surrounding skin. Include the placement and approximate measurements. You can use the contact form for a written description.
No new design in mind yet? Start by telling us what you dislike about the old tattoo. At Ink21, we can discuss what still needs to be decided for your design.
If you bring references, explain what you like about them and whether you already have a firm idea about size and shape. For larger projects, we arrange the consultation before the tattoo appointment.

How much does a cover-up tattoo cost?
Ink21's hourly rate for cover-up tattoos is listed below. The rate alone cannot tell you the total price before we have discussed your design.
Larger projects and sleeves require a deposit, which is deducted from the final price. We will discuss the amount and the next steps with you in person.

Can I bring a design I would like for my cover-up?
Yes. Bring the design to Ink21 and show us your existing tattoo. We can discuss in person whether the idea could work.
Is a photo enough to plan a cover-up?
A clear photo helps with an initial enquiry. At Ink21, we still want to see the existing tattoo in person before discussing the next steps.
Can I mention my budget straight away?
Yes, bring it up during your consultation. Our cover-up hourly rate is listed above, but the rate alone does not tell you the total cost.
Can every old tattoo be covered?
We cannot promise that for every tattoo. During the consultation, we look at the existing design, its lines, colours and size. We then discuss which approach could work.
How long does a cover-up take?
It depends on the existing tattoo and the planned design. We do not state a fixed duration or number of sessions without that assessment. Ask about the schedule for your project during the consultation.
How much does a cover-up tattoo cost at Ink21?
Our hourly rate for cover-up tattoos is € 170. The final price depends on the time involved. We discuss size, placement and execution during the consultation; a photograph alone is not a binding price quote.
